Special Olympics athletes from the Grimsby-Lincoln area strutted their stuff on the national stage last month in Vancouver.

In total, eight medals were earned by area athletes, including: Grant Flagg of Wainfleet, silver in 200m, bronze shotput, bronze long jump; Chris Sharpe of Grimsby, gold 100m, silver long jump; Josie Guilbeault of Thorold, bronze shotput, and; Christina Unger and Ian Macleod each received silver medals in team five-pin bowling competition.
The athletes spent five days at UBC helping Team Ontario earn its biggest medal haul ever and a first overall team finish in the competiton.
