Cindy Aiken, Grimsby, Ward 1

The time for change is now! If you believe accountability, transparency and communication are vital characteristics for an alderman, then please support me. As your Ward 1 Alderman, I commit to:

• BRINGING TRANSPARENCY TO ALL COUNCIL MEETINGS

This is your town! You have the right to know where we stand on issues!

• RESPONSIBLE GROWTH

Why did you move to Grimsby? Was it because of the small town feel? Or the feeling of being surrounded by nature? Quick access to the QEW? Let’s make sure we keep these positives in Grimsby. Let’s take a breath and work on making Grimsby live up to its amazing potential.

• SUPPORTING THE WOOD LOT

Ask your alderman where they stand on this vital issue.

•PROTECTING NEIGHBOURHOODS FROM OVER INTENSIFICATION

Let’s make sure future development fits with what already exists in Grimsby. We have a unique location here, parcelled between the Niagara Escarpment and Lake Ontario, let’s have it           live up to its full potential.

•OPENING THE BOOKS AT GRIMSBY HYDRO

Niagara-on-the-Lake provides all their information online.  There is no reason Grimsby cannot do the same.  Grimsby Hydro is owned by the residents of Grimsby.  They have the right to know how their money is being handled.

•ENSURING THE SECONDARY PLAN FOR THE WLMH CORRIDOR KEEPS WITH THE VIBRANT GRIMSBY COMMUNITY LOOK THAT CURRENTLY EXISTS.

We have exceeded the Ontario Smart Growth requirements.  There is no need for further over intensification.  Any further development MUST adhere to strict guidelines that enhance what already exists in Grimsby, not destroy it.

MY VISION FOR GRIMSBY

To thrive in a “small town feel” community that recognizes the importance of balancing new initiatives with preserving the history, integrity and natural environment that currently exists in Grimsby.
