Dear Editor,
A thank you to Tim Fletcher for his Letter to The Editor last week against the rezoning of the old police station – at Bartlett and Central in Grimsby – as proposed in the town hall meeting for Feb. 10.
We live in Unit 6-19 Bartlett Avenue.
Units 2-14 are truly affected in a terrible way.
We are going to lose all our privacy and light in our homes. A big concern is the parking 20 units would have only 21 underground parking spaces which is absolutely not sufficient. It should be at least 30 spaces.
The proposal is also to have office space. The 14 parking spots on ground level are for office parking and visitors.
Further, the office space can at any time, be changed to commercial use which will mean cars pulling in and out right at the edge of our back deck, perhaps day and night.
The garbage truck entrance will be at Central Avenue, a major road to Bartlett Avenue and the QEW. The trucks have to back out onto Central Avenue, a potentially dangerous situation.
Concerning the rezoning, the only acceptable plan is for one-storey, adult-style condos with driveways and garage designed like the present units.
Most likely there would be room for 10-12 units.
Underground parking is extremely expensive which brings up the next question, what kind of damage might be done to the
foundation of our home?
